The best way to judge a console is to patch a rig and program a show on it, and that's what the beta is for. There's no time limit and you don't need a rig, because the built-in 3D visualiser gives you a stage to work on. LMX is still in beta, so the build goes out through the beta programme.

Every download includes:

  • The complete console: patch, programmer, tracked cue lists, faders and executors, effects engine, palettes, presets, and XYZ targets
  • Real DMX output: Art-Net and sACN (E1.31) at a steady 44 fps, plus FT232R USB-DMX at the fastest rate the wire can sustain. Fixture output is unlimited for the duration of the beta testing
  • 400+ bundled fixture profiles, GDTF import, and the full fixture editor
  • The built-in 3D visualiser: program a whole show with no rig attached
  • The phone remote: run playback, ride faders and set targets from a browser on the same network

Beta software - use at your own risk

This is a beta build. It has bugs, it changes between builds, and a showfile saved today may need re-checking against the next one. Do not put it in front of an audience without a tested backup and a way to run the show without it. You use it entirely at your own risk: no warranty, and no liability for lost work, lost show time or anything a rig does while it is driving one.

The installer is not code-signed yet

LMX does not yet have a Windows code-signing certificate, so Windows treats the installer as coming from an unknown publisher. This is expected, and it doesn't mean the download is broken:

  • Your browser may say the file "isn't commonly downloaded" or "can't be verified". Choose Keep (in Edge, the … menu beside the download, then Keep, then Show more → Keep anyway).
  • Windows SmartScreen shows a blue "Windows protected your PC" box when you run it. Click More info, then Run anyway.
  • Publisher: Unknown appears on the User Account Control prompt that follows. That is the same missing certificate, not a second problem.

What you'll need

To explore & pre-program
Just a reasonably recent laptop or desktop. The 3D visualiser uses hardware-accelerated OpenGL.
To drive a real rig
Any Art-Net node or sACN receiver on your network, or an FT232R-based USB-DMX interface, the inexpensive and widely available kind.
To use your controllers
Optional: a MIDI control surface for hands-on faders and encoders.

Join the beta & download

Create a free account, fill in the beta signup form, and the installer is yours. No licence key and no rig needed: the 3D visualiser gives you a stage to light straight away.

Patch something

Pick from the bundled profiles or import a GDTF file. One command (or the patch wizard) puts a fixture on stage.

Run your first cue

Build a look, STORE CUE 1, press GO. The quick-start guide gets you there inside ten minutes.
