LMX ships with a full operations manual — quick start, task guides, a complete command reference, a GUI atlas, and live-troubleshooting playbooks — available in-app from day one. Here's the map.

Quick start

Your first ten minutes.

  1. 1Launch and orient — confirm the status line is updating and your output target is set before patching.
  2. 2Patch and select — add fixtures and groups, then select them from the Fixtures & Programmer tab.
  3. 3Build a look — set intensity, pick a colour, position with pan/tilt and fan tools.
  4. 4Store and run — STORE CUE 1, press GO, refine with UPDATE CUE.
  5. 5Save your show — SAVE myshow.lmx. Autosave and backups have your back from here.

Every subsystem, documented in depth.

The full manual ships inside the app (type HELP, or browse it from the menu), so it's always in sync with the build you're running. These are the core chapters:

Fixtures & patch

Fixture records link an ID to a profile, universe, and address. Patch with bundled profiles or GDTF import, clone with auto-addressing, and audit everything with PATCH REPORT.

Groups

Reusable fixture selections saved under an ID and name — select, combine (GROUP 1 + 3), fan across, and retarget whole rig sections with one token.

Palettes

Type-scoped looks — intensity, colour, gobo, beam — applied to any selection at any amount. Colour palettes convert RGB↔CMY automatically. Live references: edit once, update everywhere.

Presets

Complete multi-attribute looks stored per fixture or group. Recall in full, onto the current selection, or blended at a percentage; cues keep live references back to the preset.

Cues & cue parts

Stored show states with labels, fade/release timing, parts with independent timing, decimal insertion, and merge/replace updates from the programmer.

Tracking

Cues store deltas; values persist forward until restated. Explicit, tracked, and blocked cell states — plus the BLOCK flag for hard restates — explained with worked examples.

Playback & layers

How every frame is resolved: premove → cues → faders → programmer → override faders → global masters. Why a value wins, and how to prove it with SHOW LAYERS.

Faders & executors

Load cues, lists, presets, palettes, capabilities, or effects onto faders. Levels, merge modes (blend/HTP/intensity), flash, override, and pages.

SFX (effects)

Templates, applications, and instances; waveforms and step chases; spread, wings, and phase; live template editing; and shared master frequencies in Hz or BPM.

Targets & XYZ

The stage coordinate system, four-point fixture calibration, one-shot AIM, and live target references that re-solve cues when positions change.

Premove

Automatic “get ready while dark” pre-positioning of pan, tilt, colour, and gobo — lookahead and fade configuration, and the safety rules that govern it.
