Configuration

Every setting in the Config window and its CONFIG command.

File → Config… opens the configuration window; every setting in it has a CONFIG command, and every control echoes the command it sends. Configuration is saved with the show.

The window has a category list down the left. This page follows it.

Display

CONFIG DISPLAY ZOOM 75|100|125|150|175|200

Scales the whole interface. Display changes need a restart to take effect.

Programmer

CONFIG PROGRAMMER HTP|FORCELTP
CONFIG GROUP REFERENCE|ABSOLUTE
CONFIG BLIND VISUALISER OFF|FULL|PROGRAMMER
  • HTP / FORCELTP - how a programmer intensity meets a playback intensity. HTP takes the brighter of the two; FORCELTP lets the programmer win in both directions.
  • Group REFERENCE / ABSOLUTE - whether a value set with a group selected is stored against the group (and so follows its membership) or baked out to the fixtures that were members at the time. See Groups.
  • Blind visualiser - what the local 3D preview shows while you are in blind. Art-Net and sACN always send the real output.

Playback

CONFIG STORE CLEAR|RETAIN|PLAY
CONFIG EXITCUE <number>|OFF
CONFIG PREMOVE TIME <seconds>
CONFIG PREMOVE LOOKAHEAD <count>
CONFIG LINEARMOVE ON|OFF
CONFIG LINEARMOVE MAXPANRATE <deg/s>
CONFIG TARGET UNREACHABLE ON|OFF|FADE
CONFIG TARGET SAFEZONE <degrees>
  • Store mode - what happens to the programmer after you store a cue: CLEAR empties it, RETAIN leaves it, PLAY fires the cue you just stored.
  • Exit cue - a cue fired as LMX shuts down, so quitting never leaves the room dark. See Cue lists and GO.
  • Premove - how early, and how far ahead, dark fixtures are moved into position. See Premove.
  • Linear moves - move fixtures along a straight path rather than independently interpolating pan and tilt, capped at a maximum pan rate.
  • Targets - what a fixture does when a target is out of its reach, and how close to its limits it is allowed to get. See Targets.

Faders

CONFIG FADERS <n>

How many faders each page has. See Faders and pages.

Art-Net · sACN · USB DMX

Enabling each protocol, its addressing, and which universes it carries. Covered in DMX output.

Highlight

CONFIG HIGHLIGHT INTENSITY <0-100>
CONFIG HIGHLIGHT RED <0-100> GREEN <0-100> BLUE <0-100>
CONFIG HIGHLIGHT GOBO OPEN|NONE

What the Highlight override does to a selected fixture.

Lowlight

CONFIG LOWLIGHT INTENSITY <0-100>
CONFIG LOWLIGHT EXCLUDE NONE|<fixture_ids...>

What happens to unselected fixtures under Lowlight, and which fixtures are exempt.

Blackout

CONFIG BLACKOUT EXCLUDE NONE|<fixture_ids...>
CONFIG BLACKOUT FADEUP <seconds>

Which fixtures blackout skips - house lights, worklight, anything that must not go out - and how long the fade back up takes.

Emergency

CONFIG EMERGENCY SAVE
CONFIG EMERGENCY FADEUP <seconds>
CONFIG EMERGENCY FADEDOWN <seconds>

CONFIG EMERGENCY SAVE stores the current output as the emergency state, so the state you get in an emergency is one you have looked at and approved.

Save

CONFIG AUTOSAVE ON|OFF
CONFIG BACKUPS <count>

See Showfiles, saving and backups.

MIDI

CONFIG MIDI "<device name>" [REMOVE]
LIST MIDI
DEBUG MIDI

Which MIDI devices LMX opens. DEBUG MIDI prints incoming messages, which is how you find out what channel and number a control really sends.

External control

The MIDI and keyboard mappings themselves - see MIDI and keyboard mapping.

Visualiser

The 3D view’s stage size, render settings and haze, all mirroring the VISUALISER … commands. See 3D visualiser.

CONFIG MAXLIGHTS <integer>

is here too: how many lights the viewer will shade surfaces with (default 256, up to 1024). See 3D visualiser for what a light costs.

Performance

CONFIG FPS <integer>
CONFIG PRIORITY HIGH|NORMAL
CONFIG PERFMON ENABLE|DISABLE
SHOW PERFMON
SHOW VISPERF

Output frame rate, process priority, and the performance monitor. Perfmon costs a little to run, so it is off unless you ask for it.

Seeing the lot

SHOW CONFIG

prints every current setting in one go - the quickest way to compare two machines.
